Master Programme in Renewable Electricity Production

Dear student!

We would like to congratulate you on your admittance to your Master programme, and sincerely welcome you to an exciting 2-year programme.

Not a long time remains until the programme start, and we would like to take this opportunity to inform you about some important practical details in connection with the program start.

1. Welcome programme at Uppsala University

The international department at Uppsala University has a number of activities upon your arrival at Uppsala: picking you up at the airport, a welcoming reception, as well as an introduction to the University and the city. Please visit the website for the welcome activities (

2. Programme Registration (mandatory)

Thursday, the 25th of August 2016, 09.00

Ångström Laboratory (Lägerhyddsvägen 1) in Polhemsalen (building 1, ground floor)

To formally become a student at the Master programme in Industrial Management and Innovation you need to be present at the Programme Registration. In case you are not able to attend the registration you must report to me in writing if you wish to retain your place in the programme. In order to be registered you will have to provide an identification document. Additionally, students who are conditionally admitted must provide an original diploma along with a transcript of records.

The Programme Registration will be held on the 25th of August 2016 at 09.00 at the Ångström Laboratory in the lecture hall named Polhemsalen (or Å10134) - building 1, ground floor.

After the registration you are invited to join the University Welcome Reception and Fair (see the above link) at 12.00 at Uppsala Kongress & Konsert.

3. Welcome and Introduction Day at Department of Engineering Sciences Monday, the 29th of August 2016, 10.00-15.00

Ångström Lab. in lecture hall Å4101 (building 4, 1st floor - not ground floor)

The Master programme of Industrial Management and Innovation, along with the Master Programme of Renewable Electricity Production, formally belong to the Department of Engineering Sciences. The Department organizes a welcome day for all new master students. The Welcomе day starts with a meeting at 10.00 am in lecture hall Å4101 at the Ångström Laboratory. The students will be addressed by the head of Department as well as by the Programme Directors. There will be information about study related rules and guidelines, the student union and the campus. Lunch will be offered between 12 and 13 hours - if you have any dietary requests, please let us know by 22 August at the latest. In the afternoon, from 13.00 to 15.00, programme specific information is given.

The course syllabi are hyperlinked in the programme syllabi. It is of utmost importance to inform me if you already have taken any particular course from the first semester in the programme syllabus. In such a case I would explore possibilities for suggesting other courses which might be of interest to you. It is highly desirable that you inform me as soon as possible and not later than 15 August 2016.

6. Non-Swedish residents

In order to open a bank account you need a personal identity number (PIN). Such a number you can get immediately after the registration procedure on the 25th of August from the Swedish tax office.

7. Accommodation

Uppsala University guarantees accommodation to all fee-paying students. All EU residents must find accommodation themselves.

Getting accommodation in Uppsala is not easy, but after some searching most students manage to find appropriate and affordable accommodation. You are strongly advised to start looking for accommodation as early as possible.

8. Good to know: Getting your Master’s degree

Note that in order to obtain your MSc degree at the end of the programme you need to produce your original BSc diploma.
